District Six As a result of the Group Areas act, 60 000 Capetonian families were forcibly removed from this once vibrant ghetto area between 1966 and 1982. The District six issue remains crucial. We examine the now desolate are and visit the living museum.
Township life prevails.....

The Townships and Cape Flats Seeking racial segregation, apartheid policies disrupted all non-white population groups, distorted both rural and urban development and ensured hopeless overcrowding. Few houses were built. Against all odds township life prevails. Langa is Cape Town's oldest formal black township. We visit the Chris Hani Literacy School. We drive through the well known areas of Guguletu, Nyanga and Crossroads. Mitchell's Plain is where many coloured people removed from District Six were moved to. We Also visit the Reconstruction and Development Programme where hundreds of squatters, with the help of state grants, are setting about building their own brick homes.


The Mayibuye Centre We pay to the Centre's Robben Island Exhibition and Information Centre at the V&A Waterfront. The ferry to Robben Island Leaves after lunch (13:00) from Jetty One at the Waterfront.
Robben Island Formerly a political prison and a leper colony before that. This land mark was recently established as a museum. Step inside Nelson Mandela's cell and later we'll go to the lime quarries.
