Introduction

Albany, the oldest European settlement in Western Australia. Only 4 1/2 hours drive from Perth, Albany is thought by many to be one of the prettiest cities in the world.

  • The Desert Corps Memorial The Desert Corps Memorial stands in honour of the valiant troops that left our shores for Gallipoli so many years ago.

  • The Horden Monument Visit the monument dedicated to Anthony Horden, the man who brought the railway to the South West.

  • The Lockyer Monument The monument dedicated to Sir Edmund Lockyer, leader of the settlers aboard the Brig Amity.

  • The Vancouver Monument This is dedicated to Captain George Vancouver, who claimed the region for England in 1791.

  • The War Memorial A memorial to remind us of those who never made it home.

  • The Residency Museum Once the home of local government, now a museum dedicated to preserving Albany's historical artifacts.

  • Dog Rock One of the most photographed sights in the region, shaped like the head of a huge dog.

  • The Gap Years of pounding waves have created this incredible 24m chasm into the surf.

  • The Natural Bridge A natural wonder carved from coastal granite by a million years of ocean swells.
