Introduction
You can't ask for a more
beautiful location - set amid green dairying countryside, overlooking the
powerful and deep Southern Ocean. It is Victoria's Nursery for the
Southern Right Whale. Here you can enjoy the thriving arts and events
scene, excellent restaurants and a relaxed cafe' atmosphere. Much of this
town's history is linked to the sea so come and experience the 19th
century life and times. Original buildings, lighthouse and recreated port,
complete with ships, will ensure an unforgettable time.

Visit the
Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum with many shipwreck relics, including
the famous porcelain peacock washed up from the wreck of the Loch Ard in
1878.

Lake
Pertobe Adventure Playground and park is a favourite place for fun
and relaxation just opposite the main beach.

Visit
Canon Hill, named for the cannons that where placed there to protect
the city from attack, but these cannons were never used. Magnificent
panoramic views over the coast from the top.

Visit the
Historic Proudfoot's Boathouse, erected about 100 years ago. This
building has been fully restored and now houses a restaurant and sports
club.
