CALOUNDRA

Introduction
As the
southern gateway to the sunshine Coast, Caloundra City offers the type of
'get away from it all' holiday so many enjoy.
Caloundra Days mean lazing on the beach, or exploring the scenic beauty of
the hinterland. Caloundra Days means cruising the Pumicestone Passage,
spending a pleasant afternoon fishing or a day at the races, and when
Caloundra Days turn into night, there is night life to discover,
restaurants to try and moonlit strolls on the beach.
Coloundra is all this and much more. Located an hour from Brisbane by road
it is the gateway to the Sunshine Coast, one of Queensland's most popular
tourist destinations. Each year, more people are discovering Caloundra.
It now boasts a population of 50,000 and although it is a City, the
relaxed lifestyle remains one of its main attributes. The winter months
are pleasant. Although the mornings are crisp, the days are mild and do
not belie the season. We are sure you'll discover why the Aborigines chose
the name Caloundra for this unique corner of Queensland - it means
'beautiful place'.
