GONAREZHOU RESERVE
INTRODUCTION
Gonarezhou
means "The Place of the Elephant" and is one of Zimbabwe's
newest national parks and being 260 km from Masavingo, also the most
remote. The park is situated in the south-east Lowveld, one of the hotter
and drier parts of the country. It covers an area of 5053 sq km. Besides
being a bird-watcher's paradise, a number of rare animals live in this
ecosystem. The wild dog, suni, bat-eared fox, the pangolin and the
Lichtenstein's hartebeest are also found.
